Sectors of publication and requirements for proposed scientific articles

The research journal favours research papers with an academic vocation, which meet the specific criteria expected of a scientific publication and detailing a research approach consistent with its theoretical framework. However, the journal may also welcome publications that are based on experimental feedback, provided that the article provides a sufficient degree of reflection on professional practice in the field and provides a state-of-the-art response to a requirement of theoretical contextualization.

  • Research papers

Whether it reports original scientific research or summarises the literature on a specific problem, even if it suggests reinterpretations or questions a principle, the research paper must be structured according to the applicable guidelines for scientific publication.

Articles should develop a constructed reflection on the subject treated, introducing the issue and its context, laying out the methodology, the approach and the theoretical framework of the argument so as to produce well-argued critiques of practices, policies and research in the field covered by the article.

  • Articles reporting on professional practice

Whether it relates to experimental results, field expertise from professionals, or whether it reports on a specific experiment or a technical practice, the article must be structured according to the reflexivity appropriate to a scientific publication.

The aim is to develop a constructive reflection that first introduces the field issue and its professional context, then states current best practices and explains the theoretical and methodological framework of argumentation, and finally outlines the stakes of a reflexive professional practice together with the data of experimentation in order to produce critical and detailed analyses contributing to advancing knowledge in the field covered in the article.

Peer Review Process: double blind peer review

The average waiting time for authors across academic publishing is currently about 20 weeks from submission, through peer review, to publication.

The articles delivered by the editorial board in order to be published to Balisages Journal are submitted a double anonymous reviewing process.

Proposals for articles should be sent to the coordinators of the thematic issue in the format of their choice: doc, odt or .md., and to the following address:
balisages@listes.huma-num.fr.

The peer-review procedure is as follows:

The editorial board select the papers that respond to the aims, scopes and content of the journal which meets the journal's requirements for recommendations to authors.

The selected manuscripts are presented to experts by the coordinators of the issue.

An anonymous copy of the papers is given to two external peer reviewers, with experience to the particular field of interest. The peers evaluate the content of the paper on the basis of certain criteria stated the evaluation form for peer reviewer.

The final decision for the publication of the paper is taken by the editorial board, taking into consideration the opinion and the comments of the reviewers.

The decision for the acceptance or the rejection of an article, accompanied with the argument and the anonymous comments of the reviewers and the members editorial board, is made known to the authors.

If the article has been accepted for publishing without any remarks, the editorial team will edit the content, process the layout of the article and publish it in the issue of the journal.

In the case that an article is accepted with minimal corrections or after essential revision, the authors could submit a revised edition within 20 days.

If the revision of the article has taken in consideration the comments for corrections or additions and it is regarded acceptable by the editorial board, it will be put in the publication line for the issue.

Depending on the material completed for publishing, the accepted articles will be published within 3 to 9 months, after their submission to the editorial team.

Technical infrastructure, support and hosting

Since the publication of the first issue in February 2020, the journal has benefited from the technical infrastructure, support and hosting on Prairial, OpenEdition's incubator and open access scientific journals platform created by Lyon 3 University Libraries. The journal's articles are posted online using the Xml-Tei formalism of the Métopes publication chain, a set of tools and methods to organize editorial production from a standardized environment with high potential for interoperability on the model of Single Source Publishing one of the main contributions of which is to rationalize and factorize the editorial work while promoting the implementation of multi-media distribution strategies and ensuring sustainability of the content and high quality of the associated metadata.
