Selection and evaluation procedure

The editorial protocol of the journal Émergences adheres to international standards for scholarly publishing, as outlined in the editorial quality charter of the Prairial platform, which is based on four fundamental criteria:

  • Open access to content: the journal remains open access over time, with no submission or publication fees;

  • Peer review of articles;

  • Publication frequency: at least five research articles are published per calendar year, following a regular schedule;

  • Diversity of evaluation: assurance that articles are reviewed by researchers from a range of institutions and professional networks.

In line with DOAJ criteria, all articles submitted to Émergences follow a rigorous editorial process, the main stages of which are summarised below.

Receipt of proposals.

Anonym evaluation by reading committees.
Accepted articles are assigned to members of the editorial board.

2. Writing

Author writes article → Round 1.

3. Review

Pre-evaluation: the journal’s Editorial Board checks the article for acceptability.

2 weeks

Plagiarism detection using software.

Anonym evaluation by two experts appointed by the editorial manager, possibly supplemented by a third in the event of disagreement. Three possible outcomes:

— Acceptance subject to modifications;

— Resubmission required following revisions based on the evaluation;

— Refusal.

1-2 months

Amendments by the author according to the experts’ opinions
Round 2.

2-4 weeks

New evaluation in case of resubmission, or editorial board follow-up in case of minor revisions.

2-4 weeks

New modifications by the author, if necessary → Round 3.

2 weeks

Article validation prior to submission to the Production Editor. Contractual agreement.

4. Finalization

Receipt of the article by the Production Editor. Second plagiarism check using detection software.

2-4 weeks

Formatting of the article to meet the journal’s standards, proofreading and final checks.

Final changes by the author at the request of the Editorial Board
→ Submission of the
version for online publication.

5. Publication

Article upload (unpublished).

2 weeks

The author validates the publication order.

Finalization of proofs and online publication of the article with the issue.
