This article falls within the framework of fan studies and seeks to understand how the music of French fan films, created within the audiovisual universe of Hollywood’s Harry Potter productions, negotiate a relationship with the authoritative model set by John Williams’ compositions for the first three installments of the saga. Far from being mere imitations, these musical works reflect an emerging practice of self-taught composition, facilitated by the digital age and streaming platforms such as YouTube.
