L’analyse se concentre d’abord sur les effets de la sécheresse sur les paysages, les corps et les sociétés, puis sur les tonalités émotionnelles dominantes — peur, nostalgie, espoir — en lien avec les genres et sous‑genres littéraires auxquels chaque œuvre peut être rattachée, allant de l’utopie à la dystopie. Ces divergences, in fine, permettent d’identifier différentes stratégies que peut adopter la littérature d’anticipation pour tenter d’agir sur les consciences et de participer à la lutte contre le changement climatique. This article compares three contemporary Italian novels that address climate change through the motif of drought: Bambini bonsai (Zanotti, 2010), Qualcosa, là fuori (Arpaia, 2016), and I vegumani (Farris, 2022). The analysis focuses first on the effects of drought on landscapes, bodies, and societies, and then on the dominant emotional tones—fear, nostalgia, hope—in relation to the literary genres and subgenres to which each work can be linked, ranging from utopia to dystopia. This article analyzes and presents the contents of this special issue. It places environmental themes in the context of the science fiction genre, and discusses the sub‑genre of climate fiction. Ancrer la thématique de l’augmentation technologique dans l’imaginaire sexuel permet de focaliser immédiatement sur la fantasmatique intime de chaque lecteur/spectateur ; ce motif « situé » singularise aussi le sujet, voué pourtant à la stéréotypie du produit de genre, post-fordiste mais nécessairement soumis à des schémas identifiables. Le dissensus entre désirabilité obscure du processus et horreur des idéologies sous-jacentes formera donc la trame de ce propos ; la coloration dystopique affecte de fait l’essentiel du dispositif, mais sans que soit absente une forme de fascination honteuse pour cette « immortalité » technologique, ou même épistémocratique (voir note 3), que la science semble promettre — aux plus aisés en tout cas. Serial issues closely marry the major anthropological questions that a society asks itself… or is about to ask itself; here unfolds “the infinite possibility of possibilities”, and we will see that the theme of the extended human gradually increases in power, often from the angle of a transhumanism gone mad. Anchoring the theme of technological increase in the sexual imagination makes it possible to immediately focus on the intimate fantasy of each reader/viewer; this “situated” motif also singles out the subject, who is nevertheless doomed to the stereotypy of the gender product, post-fordist but necessarily subject to identifiable patterns.
