Elle rend visible des causalités complexes entre des systèmes qui ont chacun leur dynamique propre, qu’il s’agisse des écosystèmes, mais aussi des communautés, des institutions sociales, des identités culturelles et fait apparaître le cadre émotionnel d’une condition humaine renouvelée dans des contraintes aujourd’hui oubliées. Mais loin de toujours prophétiser une apocalypse, cette climate fiction (cli‑fi) peut aussi faire apparaître un imaginaire de la résilience, voire de la résistance face à la catastrophe annoncée et peut mettre en scène des cheminements humains, éthiques et politiques, qui stimulent des énergies et des bonnes volontés. Elle interroge de ce fait plus particulièrement l’éventuelle dimension mobilisatrice de la littérature : est‑ce que lire, c’est faire ou est‑ce simplement s’effrayer ou se consoler ?
