À travers une approche historique et une enquête menée en 2023 auprès de vingt professionnels, l'étude retrace l'évolution du secteur, de l'âge d'or des années 1960 au renouveau des années 2000, jusqu'à la crise multidimensionnelle débutée en 2019. L’analyse met en lumière une précarité structurelle, exacerbée par l'instabilité économique et l'absence de cadre institutionnel ou de protection sociale (statut d’intermittent inexistant). Elle examine également les dynamiques de genre, révélant une forte présence féminine à tous les postes techniques malgré la persistance de certains stéréotypes. Enfin, l’article souligne l'émergence de réseaux de solidarité informels comme réponse à l’absence de l’État. This article explores the socio-professional status of film technicians in Lebanon, a group that has remained largely overlooked in academic research. Combining a historical overview with a 2023 survey of twenty professionals, the study traces the sector's evolution from the golden age of the 1960s and the resurgence in the 2000s to the multifaceted crisis that began in 2019. The analysis highlights a structural state of precarity, exacerbated by economic instability and the lack of an institutional framework or social safety net (notably the absence of “intermittent” status). It also examines gender dynamics, revealing a strong female presence across all technical roles despite lingering stereotypes. Finally, the article underscores the emergence of informal solidarity networks as a grassroots response to the absence of state support.
