Dans ce type d’œuvre, le récit est programmé informatiquement selon des règles définies par l’auteur·e. Elle a été produite dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche-création interrogeant la manière de concilier un récit d’une certaine ampleur avec la contingence, apportée par les données issues du monde réel. Une solution a été trouvée en rythmant la narration par l’alternance de deux voix et en faisant osciller la tension narrative entre surprise et curiosité. Smart Rat City is a work of digital literature that draws upon data streams from the New York City information system. In this type of work, the narrative is programmatically generated according to rules defined by the author. It was produced as part of a research-creation project that examines how to reconcile a narrative of a certain scope with the contingency brought by data from the real world. Le rapport du réel à la fiction, au temps qui passe, et la solidarité du lecteur sont les axes essentiels de cette étude. This article analyses two digital works which are attached to grandmothers: Lucette, gare de Clichy by Françoise Chambefort, a work using data from the SNCF to integrate the reader into the work, and Aimée Rolland, a story of Twitterature which traces the life of my grandmother at the rate of a tweet a day for two years.
