Si cette période est abondamment documentée dans son Journal et dans la presse musicale française, on cherche en vain la trace de Prokofiev dans les écrits personnels des principaux compositeurs et écrivains liés, à Paris, à la musique de l’entre-deux-guerres. Pourquoi un tel silence ? Le présent article cherche à répondre à la question, au regard, notamment, de la place prédominante d’Igor Stravinsky, de l’insertion de Prokofiev dans les cercles artistiques parisiens, de son esthétique musicale et de ses liens avec l’URSS. At the beginning of 1924, five and a half years after leaving Russia, Serge Prokofiev took up residence in Paris. Twelve intense years followed, rich in encounters, concerts and premieres, ending in early 1936 with the musician’s return to the USSR. While this period is richly documented in his Diary and in the French music press, there is no trace of Prokofiev in the personal writings of the main composers and writers associated with music in Paris between the wars. Why such silence? En prenant pour exemple la construction d’un deck pour le jeu Magic: The Gathering, il montrera que la consistance sensible de cette expérience fait éprouver une forme de beauté. En dialogue avec la pensée de Gilbert Simondon, cette beauté est caractérisée comme technique. En effet, elle s’éprouve dans un effort jouant avec et assemblant des schèmes mécaniques, recherchant, comme dans l’invention d’une machine, la synergie entre les éléments ludiques qui constituent le deck, effort caractérisable par la densité sensible qu’il met en jeu. Par là, cet article entend montrer la nécessité de penser un rapprochement entre culture ludique et culture technique. This article aims to examine the aesthetic pleasure the deckbuilding process in a collectible card game gives to its player. Grounding itself upon the building of a Magic: The Gathering deck, it will show that the aesthetic density of such a process causes the player to experience a form of beauty. Drawing upon the work of Gilbert Simondon, I will characterize this beauty as a technical one. Such beauty is indeed to be found in a striving that plays with and assemble mechanical schemes while seeking the making of synergies between the parts of the deck, just like in the process of inventing a machine.
