Ces modalités sont diverses, tantôt typographique (tiret), géologique (chasm), narrative (la chute d’un récit), discursive (la « culture phrasée » dont parle Milner), neuronale (à propos de l’image de pensée). Elles ont en commun de procéder d’un même art, de la « découpe », entre fracture et facture, et d’une volonté double : réinterpréter ce qui, dans le texte romantique, faseye ou clive, en déréglant la lecture et son protocole ; explorer ce que « peut » le détail, préféré à l’entaille, et ce que valent ses « pouvoirs » puisés pour une bonne part aux puissances du sommeil. Toying with the idea of sleep, this paper questions five modalities of the Romantic detail, in search of its potency. The modalities in question are diverse, now typographical (the dash), geological (the chasm), now narrative (the exit line of a tale in verse), now discursive (Jean-Claude Milner’s “phrase culture”), now neuronal (with reference to the Denk Bild).
