La consultation de ses archives, aujourd’hui conservées à la Cinémathèque française, permet de documenter la genèse des longs métrages de Jean-Luc Godard ou de François Truffaut. Toutefois, ces documents ne se limitent pas à une valeur strictement informative ou génétique : ils donnent également à voir l’émergence d’un geste singulier, relevant d’un regard porté sur le film qui dépasse les seules exigences organisationnelles du tournage pour s’inscrire dans une véritable esthétique. À partir de l’analyse de ses rapports journaliers, il s’agira ainsi de mettre en lumière la méthode et la rigueur propres au métier de scripte, tout en interrogeant la possibilité d’intégrer cette pratique au parcours artistique de Suzanne Schiffman. During the 1960s, Suzanne Schiffman worked successively as a script supervisor, screenwriter, and assistant director on films by several filmmakers of the French New Wave. The consultation of her archives, now held at the Cinémathèque française, makes it possible to document the genesis of feature films by Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut. However, these materials cannot be reduced to a strictly informative or genetic function: they also reveal the emergence of a singular gesture, reflecting a way of looking at the film that goes beyond the purely organizational demands of the shoot and instead engages with a genuine aesthetic dimension.
