Inspiré par une méthode « déconstructionniste », cet essai analyse le « sectionnement » qui s’opère dans Alfred & Emily, mais aussi la dialectique qui tend la relation entre texte et photographie, pour finir par repérer l’inconscient linguistique à l’œuvre dans cette reconstruction du passé. Biographical writing in Doris Lessing’s work seems to be less concerned with the past life of the author’s parents, than with her own trauma, as a writer haunted by ghosts that were not hers, notably her father’s amputated leg.
