Statement on publication ethics

ELAD-SILDA is committed to ensuring the highest ethical standards in the publication of its open-access peer-reviewed journal. We are guided by the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. The Board of Editors (BoE) and the Board of Reviewers (BoR)

The BoE is headed by the Editor-in-Chief, who is elected for four years, renewable once.

The BoE receives the proposals for thematic issues and decides which proposals are accepted before the call for articles is published.

The BoE conducts a preliminary evaluation of all proposals, regardless of the authors' ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or political stance. The BoE decides which article proposals are submitted to the expertise of the Board of Reviewers (BoR) and which articles are desk-rejected. After reviewing has taken place, the BoE takes the final decision on the publication of the articles. In thematic issues, this capacity is shared with the guest-editor.

Unpublished material disclosed in submitted papers is not used by the members of the BoE/BoR for the purposes of their own research.

2. Ethical guidelines for reviewers

With the exception of desk-rejected papers, all submissions are sent to two reviewers chosen by the BoE for their expertise. At least one of the two reviewers must belong to the BoR. The review process lasts no longer than nine weeks (two months). The reviews should be clear, unbiased and constructive.

ELAD-SILDA is committed double-blind peer-reviewing. All articles under review regarded as confidential documents. They are not disclosed to third parties before acceptance by the BoE and notification to the author.

Reviewers are expected to adhere to the ethical standards of professional conduct. Reviewers must declare any competing interests in their submitted manuscripts.

Reviewers are asked to pay particular attention to the accuracy of the bibliographical references and to the originality of the article.

3. Ethical guidelines for authors

All authors submitting to ELAD-SILDA are expected to adhere to the ethical standards of professional conduct. Authors must declare any competing interests in their submitted manuscripts and must ensure that the manuscript does not contain any libelous or unlawful material.

Manuscripts under consideration for publication elsewhere will not be accepted, nor will the Editorial Board accept manuscripts that have previously been published.

All authors are expected to adhere to the highest standards of accuracy and truthfulness in their submissions. All sources of information and material used must be correctly credited and correctly cited. Plagiarism, including the use of material from other sources without proper attribution, is not tolerated and will result in the rejection of the manuscript or in the retraction of the article, if already published.

The source of illustrations must be clearly indicated in the text of the caption. Each article proposal is checked with the anti-plagiarism software Compilatio©.

ELAD-SILDA and its Boards recognize the importance of correcting errors in published works, and we are committed to publishing corrections and retractions when necessary. If inaccuracies are detected in the article after publication, authors must swiftly notify the Editor-in-Chief to see whether the article has to be retracted or whether an Erratum can be published. The Editorial Board will investigate any alleged ethical misconduct and take appropriate action when warranted.

ELAD-SILDA and its Boards are dedicated to the protection of authors’ intellectual property and the recognition of their authorship. All articles are made available under the CC-BY-NC 3.0 licence.

ELAD-SILDA and its Boards recognize the importance of allowing authors to change their names in published works. Authors may request to have their name changed in any published works, and ELAD-SILDA will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests.
