Publication policy regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI)

By submitting a contribution to ELAD-SILDA, authors agree to provide original, personal, and autonomous research.

The use of generative AI as a tool for statistical treatment of raw data is accepted, but needs to be acknowledged in detail in a methodological appendix, to be published together with the paper. These dispositions also apply to AI-generated scripts.

The use of AI-based tools for proofreading and language corrections is accepted. “Proofreading” includes formatting of the bibliography and of examples. The journal also accepts the use of generative AI for the translation of the abstract or quotations. In that case, the journal recommends that these AI-generated translations be carefully post-edited by a human person.

Any other use of generative AI is prohibited and will lead to the rejection of the paper if detected before publication, and to its retraction if detected or acknowledged once the paper has already been published.

Committees and reviewers are allowed to use AI tools only for proofreading and language corrections. For the sake of ensuring the sincerity of double-blind peer-reviewing, reviewers and members of the boards will not upload any part of a contribution (or review) to any AI (or other) tool that would compromise the confidentiality of the document.

By “proofreading and correction,” the editorial board means any modification aimed at eliminating errors in syntax, grammar, spelling, and punctuation without altering the author’s intended meaning. If the AI tool modifies the content or argumentative structure, the committee will consider that the contribution has not been written independently.

Regarding to visual content, the same policy applies to AI-based and non-AI-based modifications: ELAD-SILDA accepts only those modifications in contrast, color or brightness that do not alter the informational content of the image. Any other modification altering the results is prohibited. In the event of authorized image retouching, the author will be asked to provide both the original and modified versions. The editorial committee reserves the right to refuse these modifications.

The linguistics of AI-generated texts and discourses is a blossoming field, and ELAD-SILDA welcomes contributions dedicated to these matters. Only in that case, AI-generated examples are accepted in the paper. Any prompt used in the protocol underlying the submitted paper must be made available and the use of AI must be explicitly referenced in the section devoted to research methodology (or in a dedicated section), clearly stating the name of the tool used, the version, and the last date of use.
